Tennessee tight end Downs arrested

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 26 (UPI) -- University of Tennessee sophomore tight end Brendan Downs was arrested outside a Knoxville, Tenn., bar, hours after the final game of the season, police said.

Downs, 19, was removed early Sunday from a nightclub by a manager and then created a disturbance with loud and profane language, police said.

An off-duty Knoxville police officer arrested Downs, who was charged with underage consumption of alcohol and public intoxication, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported Monday.

The arrest came after Tennessee defeated Kentucky in a season-ending home game, 37-17, bringing the Volunteers' record in 2012 to 5-7.
