COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Texas A&M University police asked for help Wednesday in finding a member of the school's football team.

Police said freshman wide receiver Thomas Johnson had not been seen since he left his apartment Monday afternoon.

Texas A&M Coach Kevin Sumlin, whose team upset then No.1-ranked Alabama last Saturday, issued a statement Wednesday asking anyone with information concerning Johnson's location to get in contact with school officials.

"All of us are obviously very concerned about the safety and well-being of Thomas Johnson, who has been missing since Monday evening," Sumlin said. "Authorities are working closely with his family, friends and law enforcement agencies to help locate him.

"Thomas is a tremendous student-athlete, greatly admired by his fellow teammates and all of us on the coaching staff. If anyone has any current information about him or knows of his whereabouts, please contact his family or law enforcement authorities immediately. We pray for his quick and safe return."

Johnson attended high school in Dallas. During his first season with the Aggies he has caught 30 passes for 339 yards and a touchdown.
