Alabama still No. 1, KSU 2nd in BCS poll

IRVING, Texas, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Alabama hung onto its top spot in the computerized Bowl Championship Series ratings Sunday with Kansas State supplanting Florida at No. 2.

The Crimson Tide -- also a unanimous No. 1 choice in the USA Today coaches' poll -- recorded a convincing win over No. 11 Mississippi State Saturday and will next face Louisiana State, ranked fifth in this week's BCS formula released Sunday.

Florida, meanwhile fell from No. 2 to No. 7 after suffering its first loss of the season at Georgia, with Kansas State grabbing the Gators' former second spot after a win over Texas Tech.

Notre Dame vaulted into third place after beating nationally ranked Oklahoma, posting a one-thousandth of a percentage point lead over fourth-place Oregon.

Georgia's victory enabled it to advance four spots to No. 6, with Florida, South Carolina, Florida State and undefeated Louisville rounding out the BCS Top 10.
