AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- The University of Texas signed Coach Mack Brown to a four-year contract extension Thursday that will keep him at the school through 2020.

Brown, 60, has coached the Longhorns the last 14 years and helped bring the team a national title in 2005.

"It is important to us to have Mack Brown as our football coach for as long into the future as we can," school president William Powers Jr. said. "This contract is an expression of that. For 14 years he's had tremendous success on the field and equally important, more important, he's represented the university with class, with integrity."

Brown has a 141-39 record during his stay at Texas. The Longhorns posted their first losing season (5-7) under Brown two years ago, but bounced back to go 8-5 in 2011 with a Holiday Bowl victory over California.

Texas has a commitment from Johnathan Gray, who during his senior season gained 2,422 rushing yards and scored 47 touchdowns. Gray attended Aledo High School near Fort Worth, Texas.
