Construction will not affect Rose Bowl

PASADENA, Calif., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Rose Bowl officials said ongoing renovations at the Pasadena, Calif., stadium will not affect the Jan. 2 game between the Oregon Ducks and Wisconsin Badgers.

The officials said the projects at the 89-year-old stadium, which include adding luxury seats and a new press box, will not affect the more than 90,000 fans expected to attend the game, The Pasadena Sun reported Friday.

"Fans attending the game will recognize the stadium is undergoing a renovation, but the impacts are mitigated and we expect a great event," said Darryl Dunn, Rose Bowl Operating Co. chief executive.

City Manager Michael Beck said crews are working to ensure the Jan. 2 123rd Tournament of Roses parade is not affected by debris from the Nov. 30-Dec. 1 windstorm.

"I can assure you our crews have been working around the clock," said City Manager Michael Beck. "Pasadena will shine as it always does."
