Sandusky freed after posting $250,000 bail

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Ex-Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was freed from jail after posting $250,000 bail following his arrest on new child sexual abuse charges.

Sandusky posted $200,000 worth of real estate through his attorney, and his wife, Dorothy, paid with a certified check of $50,000 Thursday morning, ABC News reported

Sandusky, 67, had spent the night in jail after being arrested at his State College, Pa., home Wednesday on 10 additional charges linked to two more alleged victims.

Centre County District Justice Daniel A. Hoffman rejected prosecutors' request to set bail at $1 million but ordered Sandusky to wear an electronic monitoring device and not to enter the Penn State campus.

ABC News said Sandusky had been held in quarantine in jail and would not have been placed with the general population until he had been there 48 hours, said Edward DeSabato, the jail's warden.

Sandusky, who now faces 50 counts involving sexual abuse of 10 alleged victims, is to appear at a preliminary hearing Tuesday where accusers are expected to testify.

Both of the latest two alleged victims old a grand jury they met Sandusky through The Second Mile, the charity he established in the 1970s to help at-risk children, WGAL-TV, Lancaster, Pa., reported.
