Gators QB Brantley out with injury

GAINESVILLE, Fla., Oct. 3 (UPI) -- An injury will keep Florida quarterback John Brantley out of the 18th-ranked Gators' upcoming game against No. 2 Louisiana State, his coach said Monday.

Coach Will Muschamp refused to tell reporters what Brantley's injury is, but the quarterback appeared to turn his right ankle when he was sacked by Courtney Upshaw in the second quarter of the Gators' loss to Alabama Saturday.

The Gainesville Sun reported a source said Brantley has a sprained ankle and the senior was seen on campus in a walking boot with crutches.

Freshman Jeff Driskel took over after Brantley was hurt and could start at LSU Saturday. Jacoby Brissett and Tyler Murphy are other quarterback possibilities for Muschamp.

Brantley has completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 942 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions in five games this season.
