Florida's Finley faces scooter charges

GAINESVILLE, Fla., Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Florida linebacker Dee Finley is facing charges after allegedly arguing with campus police who stopped him for trying to drive his scooter around a barricade.

Finley was arrested Monday afternoon after he allegedly refused to provide his license and registration during the traffic stop near the school's football stadium.

The sophomore backup linebacker initially was charged with resisting arrest without violence and driving with a suspended license, university police said. The resisting arrest count was downgraded after he appeared in court Tuesday, police said.

Police said Finley told an officer he was running late and tried to leave the scene. The officer stopped him by grabbing his left wrist and Finley stood up and "squared off" with the officer before being placed under arrest, police said.
