DURHAM, N.C., Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Marshall Plumlee wont be following his brothers into the NBA after he graduates from Duke, instead the 7-foot center will trade his sneakers for combat boots.
Plumlee committed to join the U.S. Army after graduating when he completed his contract ceremony Friday at Cameron Indoor Stadium, according to multiple sources.
Plumlee will become an Army officer after finishing ROTC in the spring of 2016, while brothers Miles and Mason continue their NBA careers.
The Duke Chronicle reported that coach Mike Krzyzewski took the team to Fort Bragg for conditioning and practice in 2012, where Plumlee spoke with Lieutenant General Robert Brown, who also played for Krzyzerski at West Point.

Plumlee needed a special waiver to continue into the military because of its 80-inch height limit, that he surpasses by four inches.
