COL BKB: Iowa State 85, Iowa 82

AMES, Iowa, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Dustin Hogue's two free throws with 12 seconds to play Friday gave Iowa State a three-point lead and the No. 16 Cyclones edged 22nd-ranked Iowa 85-82.

Iowa State improved to 8-0 and remained one of the 14 unbeaten teams left in major college basketball.

The Cyclones rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit, but still trailed by five heading into the final 90 seconds. Iowa State then scored the final eight points of the contests and took the lead with 19 seconds left on a reverse layup from Georges Niang.

Iowa State then benefited from two missed foul shots by Mike Gessel, after which Hogue boosted the Cyclones' lead with his two free throws.

Zach McCabe missed a 3-pointer for Iowa with three seconds to go.

Niang led Iowa State with 24 points and Melvin Ejim tacked on 22. Iowa (10-2) was led by Aaron White with 25 points and 17 rebounds.
