GAINESVILLE, Fla., Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Erving Walker connected on seven 3-pointers and finished with 23 points Tuesday to power 14th-ranked Florida past Alabama-Birmingham 79-61.

Kenny Boynton added six long-range baskets en route to 20 points for the Gators (12-3).

Florida also got 15 points and six rebounds from Patric Young as it warmed up for its Southeastern Conference opener against Tennessee Saturday.

Cameron Moore led the Blazers (5-8) with 15 points and seven rebounds.
