HANOI, Vietnam, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Vietnamese health officials have confirmed the death of a 15-year-old boy from bird flu in Hanoi, a report says.

The boy died Friday from the H5N1 virus, the fourth such death in the Southeast Asian nation this year, Voice of America reported. Prior to that, a 22-year-old pregnant woman died from the same disease late last month.

The VOA report said despite massive efforts by the Vietnamese government to contain the problem, bird flu seems to have made a comeback this year, largely affecting poultry farms across the country.

The report quoted the World Health Organization that 95 others in Vietnam had contracted the virus since 2003, of whom 42 have died.
