Kerry, Dean join hands in Bush fight

WASHINGTON, March 11 (UPI) -- John Kerry and Howard Dean, two formerly bitter Democratic presidential rivals, have gotten together to plot a path to oust U.S. President Bush this fall.

Kerry, the presumptive Democratic nominee, was expected to meet Thursday with John Edwards, another vanquished foe and seen by many observers as a possible running mate.

He is also scheduled to return to Capitol Hill to meet with the Democratic House and Senate delegations as well as the Congressional black and Hispanic caucuses.

Kerry welcomed Dean, who once seemed his chief political roadblock, to his headquarters in Washington Wednesday for an hour-long, closed door strategy meeting. Dean, the former Vermont governor, is expected to make a formal endorsement of the Massachusetts senator before the end of the month, the New York Times said.

"I will work closely with John Kerry to make sure we beat George Bush in November and turn our country around," Dean said in a statement after the session.
