Restricted free agent forward Alex Galchenyuk will remain with the Montreal Canadiens after signing a three-year deal, the team announced on Wednesday.

Financial terms were not disclosed by the club, but TSN's Pierre LeBrun reported the contract was worth $14.7 million with an annual salary cap hit of $4.9 million.

The new deal represents an upgrade for Galchenyuk, who signed a two-year contract worth $5.6 million in July 2015.

Galchenyuk collected 17 goals, 27 assists and 15 power-play points during 61 games last season. The 23-year-old has recorded 89 goals and 115 assists in 336 career contests since being selected by Montreal with the third overall pick of the 2012 draft.
