Buffalo Sabres acquire Marco Scandella, Jason Pominville from Minnesota Wild

The Buffalo Sabres acquired defenseman Marco Scandella, forward Jason Pominville and a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NHL draft on Friday from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forwards Tyler Ennis and Marcus Foligno and a third-round pick in 2018.

Scandella, selected by Minnesota in the second round (55th overall) of the 2008 draft, completed his seventh NHL season with the Wild. Scandella, 27, recorded 89 points (27 goals, 62 assists) in 373 career regular-season games with the Wild and nine points (six goals, three assists) in 39 career playoff games.

Pominville, 34, rejoins the Sabres after spending the last four full seasons with the Wild. Since being acquired by Minnesota from the Sabres in April 2013, Pominville totaled 206 points (76 goals, 130 assists) in 327 regular-season games, adding 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 36 postseason contests.

Pominville appeared in parts of 14 seasons since being selected by the Sabres in the second round (55th overall) of the 2001 draft. The former Sabres captain owns 662 career points (261 goals, 401 assists) in 905 regular-season games.

"I want to thank Jason and Marco for the effort, passion and character they showed during their time with our club and wish them the best in Buffalo," Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher said in a statement.

Ennis, 27, tallied 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in 51 games with the Sabres last season, missing 30 contests due to a groin injury. He owns 236 points (97 goals, 139 assists) in 419 career NHL games during eight seasons with the Sabres, adding eight points (three goals, five assists) in 13 playoff games.

Foligno, 26, recorded 23 points (13 goals, 10 assists) in 80 games with Buffalo last season and ranked fifth in the NHL with a career-high 279 hits. He owns 116 points (49 goals, 67 assists) in 347 career NHL contests during six seasons with the Sabres.
