Dallas Stars acquire G Justin Peters in 4-player deal

The Dallas Stars acquired goaltender Justin Peters and defenseman Justin Hache from the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday in exchange for forwards Brendan Ranford and Branden Troock.

Peters, 30, split the 2016-17 season between Arizona and the Tucson Roadrunners of the American Hockey League. He appeared in three NHL games with Arizona, posting a 0-1-0 record with a 3.16 goals- against average and .900 save percentage. Peters also logged a 5-6-0 record with a 4.17 GAA and an .868 save percentage in 12 AHL appearances with Tucson.

Peters owns a 25-38-9 record with a 3.08 GAA and .901 save percentage with three shutouts in 83 career NHL games with Carolina, Washington and Arizona. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound native of Blyth, Ontario, was originally selected by Carolina in the second round (38th overall) of the 2004 NHL draft.

Hache, 23, split the 2016-17 campaign between Tucson and the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL. The defenseman recorded one assist in five AHL contests with Tucson and earned nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 21 contests with Rapid City. Hache owns 21 points (two goals, 19 assists) in 138 career AHL contests with Portland, Springfield and Tucson. The 6-2, 195-pound native of Bathurst, New Brunswick, was originally selected by Arizona in the seventh round in 2012.

Ranford, 24, recorded 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) in 36 games this season with the Texas Stars of the AHL. The forward posted 160 points (55 goals, 105 assists) in 250 career AHL games, all with Texas. Ranford appeared in one NHL contest with Dallas. The 5-10, 190-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, was originally selected by Philadelphia in the seventh round in 2010.

Troock, 22, split the season between Texas and the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL. The forward had four assists in 10 AHL contests with Texas this season and earned nine points (seven goals, two assists) in 15 ECHL games with Idaho. Troock recorded 30 points (nine goals, 21 assists) in 98 career AHL contests, all with Texas. The 6-2, 220-pound native of Edmonton was originally selected by Dallas in the fifth round of the 2012 draft.
