Hall of Fame NBA player Dennis Rodman accused of slapping man at bar

May 24 (UPI) -- Pro Basketball Hall of Fame player Dennis Rodman was accused of slapping someone at a rooftop bar in Delray Beach, Fla., according to a police report.

Jeff Soulouque, the alleged victim of an "open-handed smack" from Rodman, wants to press charges, according to the report. He said the alleged incident was unprovoked and that he sustained a corneal abrasion and facial swelling. No charges have been filed over the May 17 altercation.

"It was out of nowhere," Souloueque said, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel. "He just hit me, and I was blindsided, and he started charging me."

Rodman, who lives in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., hasn't been arrested or charged. His attorney, Lorne Berkeley, denied Soulouque's claim.

"Once a thorough investigation is completed, the incident will not be substantiated," Berkeley said.

Rodman was celebrating his 58th birthday party at Buddha Sky Bar in Delray Beach. Soulouque said he was talking to someone who was standing next to Rodman when the Hall of Famer turned around and struck him, according to the Sun Sentinel.

Soulouque, 30, said Rodman apologized and offered to take him to dinner the next day.

Police said Thursday they are still investigating the incident.
