BOONE COUNTY, Ky., June 13 (UPI) -- Derek Willis' hard work and impact on the court last season in Lexington could sadly be overshadowed by one bad decision.

Willis, a senior forward for Kentucky, was arrested at 4:57 a.m. Saturday in Boone County, Kentucky.

He was charged with public intoxication, spent eight hours in jail, and was released on $50 bond.

The 20-year-old averaged 7.7 points and 4.0 rebounds for John Calipari last season. He also shot 44 percent from three-point range.

Jon Hale, of the Courier-Journal, reported that Willis was "found passed out in the street outside a vehicle," before he was arrested.

"The deputy reported Willis said he had "a lot" to drink and could not advise where he was other to say in "Northern Kentucky" after being woken up," Hale reported. "The citation reports Willis had extremely slurred speech, was unsteady on his feet and "was a danger to himself and others."

Kentucky told Hale that it was still gathering information on the incident and did not have a comment.

Willis turns 21 next Tuesday.
