COL BKB: Virginia Commonwealth 73, Long Beach State 67

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Trevon Graham tipped in his own miss to start a late six-point burst Friday that gave No. 10 Virginia Commonwealth a 73-67 win over Long Beach State.

That brief surge put the Rams in front by eight with 34 seconds to play after Long Beach State had closed within 62-60. The 49ers went scoreless for almost three minutes to seal their fate.

Virginia Commonwealth advanced to the consolation finals of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, where the Rams will meet Georgetown on Sunday.

Rob Brandeberg, whose two free throws finished off the six-point run, scored 18 points to lead Virginia Commonwealth (4-1). Juvonte Reddick added 17 points and had nine rebounds.

The Rams bounced back from their first loss of the season, which came against Florida State in the opening round of the tournament on Thursday.

Long Beach State (1-5) was paced by 19 points from Branford Jones.
