COL BKB: Wisconsin 86, St. John's 75

SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Sam Dekker's 3-pointer started a key run inside the 9-minute mark Friday that pushed No. 21 Wisconsin to an 86-75 victory over St. John's.

The Badgers held only a 58-54 lead in their season opener when they went on an eight-point surge that broke open the contest.

Dekker hit a 3-point shot with 8:16 remaining to touch off the run and he finished with 16 points -- one of five Wisconsin players to reach double figures.

Josh Gasser led the way with 17 points and nine rebounds while Ben Brust, Traevon Jackson and Duje Dukan all had 15.

The Badgers hit 25 of their 30 attempts from the foul line and were 11-of-20 from 3-point range.

D'Angelo Harrison paced the Red Storm with 27 points and Jakarr Sampson had 23.
