ATHENS, Ohio, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Jake Kretzer hit all 11 of hits shots from the field and the foul line Wednesday in rallying No. 24 Akron to an 88-81 overtime win over Ohio.
In a battle for the West Division lead in the Mid-American Conference, the Zips overcame an 11-point halftime deficit. Akron took the lead late in regulation, then gave up a score-tying layup at the buzzer to Ohio's Jon Smith.
The Zips proceeded to dominate overtime, taking an 87-78 lead on Kretzer's dunk.
Kretzer went 6-of-6 from the field and was 5-of-5 from the line while producing 19 points. Demetrius Treadwell led Akron with 21.
Akron extended its winning streak to 19 games, improving to 23-4 for the season and to 13-0 in the MAC's West Division. Ohio slipped to 20-8 and 11-2.
D.J. Cooper led the Bobcats with 26 points.
