MANHATTAN, Kan., Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Rodney McGruder pumped in 28 points Saturday and Kansas State began Big 12 Conference play with a 73-67 win over No. 21 Oklahoma State.
McGruder connected on 11-of-19 shots from the field and Nino Williams chipped in with 17 points and five rebounds as the Wildcats (12-2, 1-0 Big 12) reeled off their fifth straight win.

Marcus Smart struck for a career-high 25 points and Markel Brown added 19 for the Cowboys (10-3, 0-1), who lost their second straight.
