SAN DIEGO, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Chase Tapley struck for 15 points and Jamaal Franklin added 14 Saturday in No. 15 San Diego State's 72-56 rout of crosstown rival San Diego.

Franklin also hauled down eight rebounds, and Deshawn Stephens connected on 5-of-5 shots en route to 11 points and six rebounds for the Aztecs (8-1).

San Diego State reeled off its eighth straight win following a season-opening loss to Syracuse.

The Toreros (6-6) were led by Ken Rancifer with 16 points and seven rebounds.
