Johnson named TCU basketball coach

FORT WORTH, Texas, April 9 (UPI) -- Texas Christian University announced Monday that Trent Johnson has been hired as the Horned Frogs' new men's basketball coach.

TCU Athletic Director Chris Del Conte made the announcement one day after Johnson's former school, Louisiana State, revealed he had left that program.

Johnson replaces Jim Christian, who moved on to coach Ohio University last week after four seasons mentoring at TCU.

"With our move to the Big 12, he is a perfect fit to lead us into a new era of Horned Frog basketball," Del Conte said of Johnson, who compiled a 67-64 mark in four years as LSU's head coach.

Along with earlier stints Stanford and Nevada, the coach owns a 226-185 career record.
