"If this is a preview for Monday night then I feel sorry for the police," Samantha Shirley told the Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader.

Firefighters said at least 39 fire calls were made, many of them involving sofas dragged into the street and set ablaze. Paramedics made a dozen first-aid calls and police arrested more than a dozen celebrants.

The Herald-Leader said the partying was laced with flying rocks and beer bottles that greeted the riot squad as it broke up the celebrations. A police spokesman told the newspaper there were some minor injuries among the officers.
