COL BKB: Middle Tennessee 71, Tennessee 64

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., March 19 (UPI) -- Bruce Massey scored 20 points Monday, sparking Middle Tennessee to a 71-64 victory over top-seeded Tennessee in a National Invitational Tournament game.

Massey grabbed 10 rebounds while LaRon Dendy added 10 points and nine boards for the Blue Raiders (27-6), who bested the Volunteers for only the second time in 11 meetings.

Middle Tennessee sank 52.2 percent of its first-half field goal tries en route to the win, which put the No. 4 seeded Blue Raiders into the NIT quarterfinals.

Jeronne Maymon had 17 points and seven rebounds for Tennessee (19-15), which got 15 points from Jarnell Stokes and 14 from Trae Golden.
