PORTLAND, Ore., March 18 (UPI) -- Louisville's Russ Smith popped in 17 points Saturday and the fourth-seeded Cardinals downed New Mexico 59-56 in an NCAA Tournament West Regional game.
Kyle Kuric and Chane Behanan each helped out with 10 points for the Cardinals (28-9), who advanced to the regional semifinals in Phoenix where they will take on the winner of Sunday's Michigan State-Saint Louis contest.

Peyton Siva helped seal the win when he passed to Gorgui Dieng in the paint for a two-handed jam with 32.2 seconds left, giving Louisville a four-point advantage.
Drew Gordon led the Lobos (28-7) with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Kendall Williams provided with 11 points for New Mexico.
