COLUMBIA, Mo., Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Michael Dixon gave Missouri the lead with 3:42 to play Wednesday and the No. 8 Tigers went on a seven-point run to defeat Iowa State 78-72.
Missouri won for the eighth time in 10 games, but snapped a two-game losing streak that had seen the Tigers fall to both Kansas and Kansas State.
The Cyclones made a bid to extend Missouri's skid, forging a tie with less than 4 minutes to play.
Dixon then gave Missouri a 66-64 lead by hitting a layup, Marcus Denmon added a 3-pointer and Phil Pressey scored on a layup to put the Tigers in front 71-64 with 1:26 remaining.
Dixon made 8-of-10 from the field and scored 21 points to lead Missouri (26-4, 13-4), which will finish no worse than tied for second in the Big 12 Conference behind regular-season champion Kansas.
Ricardo Ratliffe added 16 points and Missouri shot 54 percent from the field.
Royce White had 20 points for Iowa State (21-9, 11-6).
