SAN DIEGO, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Jamaal Franklin scored the first five points of overtime Wednesday, allowing No. 25 San Diego State to survive a scare and down Wyoming 67-58.
Wyoming's Luke Martinez hit a 3-pointer with 31 seconds left to bring about a 55-55 tie and neither side could score the rest of the way in regulation.
The Aztecs then ran off the opening seven points of the extra period, with Franklin producing a layup and a 3-point play in the first 40 seconds.
San Diego State trailed by nine points with 11 minutes to go before rallying for a win that kept it tied with Nevada-Las Vegas for second place in the Mountain West Conference -- a game behind New Mexico.
Garrett Green had 14 points for the Aztecs (21-6, 7-4 MWC) and Franklin delivered 12 off the bench.
Arthur Bouedo scored 11 for the Cowboys (18-9, 4-7).
