COL BKB: Murray St. 81, SE Missouri St. 73

MURRAY, Ky., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Isaiah Canaan fueled a second-half rally and finished with 32 points Thursday, keeping No. 9 Murray State unbeaten with an 81-73 win over Southeast Missouri.

The Racers trailed by 11 early in the second period but went on a 24-6 run that ended the Redhawks' upset hopes.

Murray State, the only unbeaten team left in major college basketball, has won 22 games this season and is 10-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference. It is the first time a team from the OVC has won 22 games to start a campaign.

Canaan made 8-of-17 shots from the field and was 10-of-12 from the foul line. Jewuan Long added 13 points for the Racers while Ivan Aska had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Murray State shot just 40 percent from the field, but made 27 free throws and was good on eight 3-pointers.

Marcus Brister led Southeast Missouri (12-10, 7-3) with 17 points.
