NEW YORK, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Arnett Moultrie led Mississippi State on a late surge Friday that brought the Bulldogs a surprising 67-57 victory over No. 15 Arizona.
The Bulldogs won the 2K Sports Classic, defeating two ranked teams in the semifinals and finals. Mississippi State had downed No. 18 Texas A&M Thursday.
Mississippi State led throughout, but that advantage was only two points with 5:13 to go. The Bulldogs then closed the contest on a 10-2 run that boosted them to 4-1 for the season.
Moultrie was the only Mississippi State player in double figures with 19 points. He made 8-of-10 shots from the field and also pulled down 10 rebounds. Rodney Hood added nine points for Mississippi State.
Arizona (4-1) was paced by Solomon Hill with 12 points. Jesse Perry had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Mississippi State built a 21-11 lead before settling for a 35-34 advantage at halftime.
