COL BKB: Michigan 59, Ferris State 33

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 11 (UPI) -- A 3-pointer by Evan Smotrycz ignited a game-closing, 21-1 run Friday that boosted No. 18 Michigan to a 59-33 victory over Ferris State.

Ferris State trailed by only six points with less than 9 minutes remaining before the Wolverines finally produced the surge that put the game away.

Smotrycz hit his 3-pointer with 8:31 to play and the lone Ferris State point for the remainder of the game came with 2:28 left.

Smotrycz and Stu Douglass both scored 14 points to lead the Wolverines, who forced 17 turnovers and limited the Bulldogs to 28 percent shooting.

Daniel Sutherlin had 11 points for Ferris State, which hit only 3-of-18 attempts from 3-point range.
