MLB: Chi. White Sox 11, Baltimore 8

CHICAGO, July 6 (UPI) -- Jim Thome hit a grand slam and a two-run homer Thursday night, helping the Chicago White Sox beat Baltimore, 11-8.

Jermaine Dye hit a three-run homer; A.J. Pierzynski hit a solo shot; Alex Cintron had three runs, two hits and one RBI; and Brian Anderson, Paul Konerko and Scott Podsednik all had a run and two hits for the White Sox (56-29), who have won 16 of their last 20 games.

Winner Javier Vazquez (9-4) allowed five hits and five runs in 5 1/3 innings with one walk and two strikeouts. Matt Thornton recorded his first save.

Jeff Conine had two hits and three RBI; Miguel Tejada had two runs, three hits and two RBI; and Kevin Millar had two runs, two hits and one RBI for the Orioles (39-48), who have dropped six of their last eight games.

Loser Russ Ortiz was torched for eight hits and seven runs in five innings.
