Actor Alex Pettyfer revealed the truth behind the rumors that he and co-star Channing Tatum did not get along on the set of Magic Mike, the male-stripper comedy released in 2012. Pettyfer and Tatum are not the only co-stars who were not so friendly once the cameras stopped rolling.
Alex Pettyfer and Channing Tatum may have played on-screen buddies in Magic Mike, but Pettyfer recently revealed that Tatum and the rest of the cast found the actor to be stuck up after keeping to himself on set. The feud only intensified after Pettyfer refused to pay rent for a New York apartment belonging to Tatum's friends due to dust and mold. Pettyfer reports receiving an email from Tatum, saying, "Don't [expletive] my friends. You owe money. Pay the [expletive] money. Don't be a clown." While Pettyfer holds no hard feelings, he did not return for the 2015 sequel.
For the Desperate Housewives cast, the drama was reportedly not limited to the small-screen. Since day one, Teri Hatcher kept to herself on set, while the rest of her co-stars, including Marcia Cross, became close friends. This created a deep rift that exploded in 2005 when Cross stormed off set during a Vanity Fair photoshoot after being posed next to Hatcher. Hatcher stayed out of the fight, telling TV Guide, "I will never disclose the true and complicated journey of us all, but I wish everyone on the show well."
While the couple dated for nearly three years after the release of The Notebook, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were far from friendly while filming. Director Nick Cassavetes said that Gosling initially wanted McAdams fired and replaced with a different actress. Cassavetes recalls bringing them into a room to scream and yell at each other, and the two eventually worked things out. "The rest of the film wasn't smooth sailing," he told VH1, "but it was smoother."
It was recently announced that Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny will be reuniting and reprising their roles on The X-Files. However, the pair were not always so willing to work together. Despite playing "star-crossed lovers" on the big-screen, Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio apparently were not close while filming Baz Luhrmann's Romeo+Juliet. Danes was not impressed with DiCaprio's prankster antics, calling him "very immature," while DiCaprio found Danes reserved and uptight. Danes later admitted that there "was definitely a spark, but I don't think either of us knew how to handle it. So, we sometimes sort of ignored each other." Danes later turned down the role of secretary starring opposite DiCaprio in the 2011 film J. Edgar.
While the actresses deny any rift, many reports claimed that a bitter rivalry existed between co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall on the set of Sex and the City. Parker has admitted that "There are times when all of us have been sensitive, and sometimes feelings get hurt." The two apparently clashed when it was revealed that Parker made more than Cattrall for her role in the series. The feud reportedly ended in 2005 after a birthday party thrown by Parker's then-husband Matthew Broderick.
The feud between Janet Hubert (Aunt Vivian) and star Will Smith on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has been well-documented, resulting in her replacement -- due to "creative differences -- following the 1993 season by Daphne Reid. Smith apologized later in an Essence Magazine article, but Hubert claims that "Will Smith and Alfonso [Ribiero, who played Carlton Banks] destroyed a 20-year career with untruths." Despite speculation of an on-air reunion, Hubert told TMZ that "There will never be a reunion... as I will never do anything with an [expletive] like Will Smith. He is still an egomaniac and has not grown up."
