Olmert denounces Iran president

TEL AVIV, Israel, April 30 (UPI) -- Israel's prime minister-designate Ehud Olmert has denounced the president of Iran, comparing him to Adolf Hitler.

The Israeli leader called Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a "psychopath" in an interview with the German newspaper Bild, the Sunday Times of London reported.

"Ahmadinejad speaks today like Hitler before taking power," said Olmert. "So you see, we are dealing with a psychopath of the worst kind -- with an anti-semite. God forbid that this man ever gets his hands on nuclear weapons, to carry out his threats."

The International Atomic Energy Agency said Friday that it was alarmed by "gaps" in its knowledge about Iran's nuclear program.

Iran's top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, vowed last week that Iran's nuclear program would go underground if attacked.

But many intelligence experts believe it is already operating a parallel uranium enrichment program concealed from IAEA inspections, the Times of London said.
