LOS ANGELES, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- The defense rested Wednesday in the Robert Blake murder trial, bringing the case another step closer to the jury.
Blake's adult daughter, Delinah Blake, was the final witness to testify on behalf of the veteran actor who is accused of killing his wife outside a Los Angeles restaurant in 2001.

The prosecution will call rebuttal witnesses Thursday. After closing arguments, the trial will be turned over to the jury.
Delinah Blake did not testify in person. She appeared on a videotape to bolster the defense's contention that Blake would not kill Bonny Lee Bakley because it would come back to harm the daughter, Rosie, he had with Bakley.
