Karzai condemns terror attack

KABUL, Afghanistan, July 29 (UPI) -- Afghan President Hamid Karzai Thursday strongly condemned a terrorist attack in the Ghazni province that killed two electoral workers and injured seven.

The explosion occurred in a mosque in Andar district, where voter registration for the October elections was taking place.

"This barbaric act is treason to Islam since it was perpetrated in a place where no violence and no crime can be tolerated," said Karzai in a statement issued by his office.

"The enemies of Afghanistan will never be able to deprive the Afghan people of their legitimate right to have fair and free elections in their country," he said.
