VILLANOVA, Pa., Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Darrun Hilliard netted 18 points Saturday, helping 11th-ranked Villanova cool off St. John's 57-54 in a Big East Conference matchup.

Hilliard fired in four 3-pointers and Ryan Arcidiacono added 12 points as the Wildcats (24-3, 12-2 Big East) racked up an eighth victory in nine games.

JayVaughn Pinkston dominated the boards with 11 rebounds.

The Red Storm (18-10, 8-7) had their six-game winning streak snapped despite 15 points from D'Angelo Harrison.

JaKarr Sampson supplied a double-double of 12 with 10 rebounds.
