COL BKB: San Diego State 75, San Jose State 50

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Xavier Thames scored 15 points Wednesday and No. 7 San Diego State clamped down on defense to run away from San Jose State 75-50.

The Aztecs won their 16th consecutive game since falling to current No. 1 Arizona in their second contest of the season.

San Diego State held the Spartans to 19 points in the first half and to 18 field goals for the entire game. San Jose State shot 33 percent from the field.

Winston Shepard and Josh Davis both had 12 points for the Aztecs (17-1, 6-0 Mountain West Conference). San Diego State is the only team with an unbeaten record in league play.

San Jose State (6-13, 0-7 MWC) was led by Devante Wilson with 13 points.
