COL BKB: Kansas 80, New Mexico 63

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Perry Ellis scored 21 points and Joel Embiid added a career-high 18 Saturday, helping 13th-ranked Kansas race past New Mexico 80-63.

Ellis added nine rebounds and Embiid ignited a pair of second-half runs, scoring 16 of his points after the break as the Jayhawks (7-3) broke a two-game losing streak.

Kansas employed a tough defense down the stretch, limiting New Mexico to just 28.6 percent shooting after halftime.

The Lobos (7-2) lost for the first time in five games despite 24 points each from Cameron Bairstow and Kendall Williams.
