SYRACUSE, N.Y., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- A 27-point performance from guard Trevor Cooney Friday helped rally No. 7 Syracuse to an 82-60 decision over Cornell.
Cornell stunned the Orange by taking a six-point halftime lead, but Syracuse held its Ivy League opponent to 22 points in the second half to win its season opener.

Cooney made 10-of-13 from the field, converted seven 3-point tries and scored 27 points. Syracuse took control by going on a 32-10 run to start the second half.
C.J. Fair added 19 points for Syracuse and Rakeem Christmas contributed 12.
Cornell was led by Nolan Cressler with 23.
