LOUISVILLE, Ky., Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Russ Smith struck for 24 points Thursday and No. 12 Louisville got back on the winning track with a 72-58 victory over St. John's.

Smith finished with six rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Cardinals (20-5, 8-4 Big East), who were coming off Saturday's five-overtime defeat at the hands of Notre Dame.

Peyton Siva added 12 points while Gorgui Dieng chipped in with 10 points and 17 rebounds for Louisville.

Phil Greene scored 21 points and D'Angelo Harrison added 18 for the Red Storm (15-10, 7-6).
