COL BKB: N.C. State 83, Georgia Tech 70

RALEIGH, N.C., Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Scott Wood hit a pair of 3-pointers during a 17-5 run late in the game Wednesday that pushed No. 21 North Carolina State to an 83-70 win over Georgia Tech.

The contest was tied with 8 minutes remaining, but Wood started the run with a 3-point shot and the Wolfpack went on to win their ninth in a row.

Lorenzo Brown paced North Carolina State with 21 points, Wood had 20 and C.J. Leslie added 19. The Wolfpack (13-2, 2-0 ACC) hit 50 percent from the field and took 13 more free throws than did the Yellow Jackets.

The game was close throughout until the late run by the Wolfpack with Georgia Tech holding a one-point halftime lead.

Georgia Tech got 15 points from Daniel Miller while falling to 10-4 for the season and to 0-2 in league action.
