COL BKB: Syracuse 85, Canisius 61

SYRACUSE, N.Y., Dec. 15 (UPI) -- James Southerland pumped in 21 points and Brandon Triche netted 19 Saturday, powering fourth-ranked Syracuse to an 85-61 win over Canisius.

Southerland scored 16 of his points in the second half as the unbeaten Orange (9-0) broke open a close game and won going away for their 51 straight regular-season, non-conference victory.

Michael Carter-Williams supplied a double-double of 12 points and 14 assists as Syracuse Coach Jim Boeheim racked up his 899th career victory.

Only Coaches Mike Krzyzewski and Bob Knight have at least 900 career college basketball wins.

Canisius (6-2) was paced by Isaac Sosa and Billy Baron with 15 points apiece.
