Montana cruises by Weber State in Big Sky

MISSOULA, Mont., March 7 (UPI) -- Kareem Jamar hit five of Montana's 12 3-point shots Wednesday, sending the Grizzlies into the NCAA Tournament with an 85-66 crushing of Weber State.

Playing on its home floor, Montana put together the most one-sided victory in the 14 NCAA conference tournament championship games played to date.

The Grizzlies won the Big Sky Tournament title for the eighth time.

This was the last of the conference tourney finals until Saturday, when 12 championship games will be played. The last four conference titles will be decided Sunday prior to the announcement of the NCAA Tournament field.

Jamar and Mathias Ward both scored 23 points for the Grizzlies (25-6), whose 12 long-range field goals came on 22 attempts. Jamar was 9-of-12 from the field overall and led all five Montana starters in double figures.

Weber State (24-6), which was runner-up to Montana in the regular-season league race, got 29 points and 10 rebounds from Damian Lillard.

Montana trailed by five at halftime before outscoring the Wildcats 54-30 during the second period.
