CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Kendall Marshall hit two 3-pointers during a 23-point run in the first half Thursday that sent No. 6 North Carolina coasting to a 100-62 victory over Elon.
The Tar Heels held Elon scoreless for 8 minutes while building a 41-14 lead, and easily picked up their sixth straight win.
Tyler Zeller led North Carolina with 19 points and 13 rebounds, nine of them on the offensive glass. Harrison Barnes chipped in 18 points and John Henson scored 16 for the Tar Heels (12-2).
North Carolina won the rebounding duel 58-31.
Sebastian Koch scored 17 points for the Phoenix (7-5).
North Carolina has one game remaining, against Monmouth (N.J.) on New Year's Day, before opening its Atlantic Coast Conference season Jan. 7 against Boston College.
