COL BKB: Illinois 80, Coppin State 63

CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- D.J. Richardson netted 20 points Sunday, connecting on four 3-pointers for co-No. 22 Illinois in its 80-63 win over Coppin State.

Meyers Leonard added 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Sam Maniscalo and Brandon Paul each chipped in 12 points for the Illini (10-0), who are off to their best start since 2005-06.

Maniscalco's 3-pointer midway through the first half triggered a 12-2 run that put Illinois up by 10. The Illini upped the advantage to 17 with Richardson's trey 6 minutes into the final frame.

The Illini shot a sizzling 56.4 percent and went 10-of-22 from beyond the arc in the win.

Tony Gallo scored 21 points for the Eagles (3-5).
