Iran recasts report on U.S. jet
Friday, October 10
After investigating, police concluded the 45-year-old mother-of-three, Susan Pope, hadn't committed a crime, the Daily Mail reported Saturday. Social services examined the case and chose to place Pope's children on their protection register.
The boarding school Pope worked for claimed its reputation was at stake because of social services' involvement in the May 2007 incident. She was dismissed for alleged gross misconduct.
Pope reportedly has plans to confront the school in an industrial tribunal, saying she was unjustly fired.
Pope claims she smacked her son's rear after he misbehaved and swore at her multiple times. She said police were called by her 15-year-old, who was going through a "rebellious" phase at the time.
