Merle Haggard, Toby Keith duet set

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Country music legend Merle Haggard and superstar Toby Keith announced plans Tuesday to record two duets.

A spokeswoman for Haggard said legendary Nashville record producer Jimmy Bowen would interrupt his retirement to produce the tracks. Haggard and Keith plan to record "White Boys" for inclusion on an upcoming Haggard album, and "She's Not Hooked on Me No More" for Keith's upcoming project.

Bowen is co-producing several tracks on Haggard's upcoming album with Mike Post -- best known for his Emmy-winning music for such TV classics as "NYPD Blue," "L.A. Law" and "The Rockford Files."

The project is scheduled to be Haggard's first new album of new music for his long-time label -- Capitol Records -- in 25 years.

Bowen -- who has produced sessions for such legendary recording artists as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline --said he didn't mind interrupting his retirement for this project.

"I just love Haggard," he said. "I'm not really out of retirement, I'm doing this while in retirement."
