Navy contracts for engineering support

MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 1 (UPI) -- The U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic will receive technical and systems engineering support from SAIC.

Support will specifically be for strategic and tactical needs of the center's Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance System of Systems Engineering and Integration Program.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract is for a base performance period of one year. The award also features provisions for two one-year options.

Science Applications International Corp. said it will perform contract work -- worth a total of $667 million -- in Virginia and South Carolina.

"Our efforts and experience with large-scale integration and systems engineering efforts have set the stage for our work on this contract," said Jim Thigpen, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "This expertise will enable us to provide SSC Atlantic with technological solutions that will ultimately streamline efforts and help to deliver platforms more rapidly to the warfighter."

The goal of SSC Atlantic's C5ISR SoSEI program is to eliminate duplication of efforts throughout the command and promote a quality product line.

Under the contract, SAIC "will place similar integration functions into one integration production process in a government facility and provide technical support to provide systems engineering, integration, testing, large-scale fabrication, non-developmental item procurement, interim repair and maintenance services, and training," it said.
